My favourite band of all time:

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

I had a liking for this band for a couple of years now, but I only entered a phase of massive hyperfixation over a year ago. It's a little hard to explain why I like them so much, the best way I that I can put it is that their music is just perfect for me. I like many other artists, but no one else music that I adore as much as mychem's. They massively inspire me to create comics, and while I wouldn't consider myself a musician, they certainly convinced me keep playing the guitar.

Backstory(LOOOONG)

My first exposure to the band was through emo jokes on the internet, and by hearing some of the part of the infamous "My immortal" fanfic. They literally never played on the radio in the place I grew up, I don't recall seeing any references to them in media I watched, and the main music I consumed was mainstream pop when I was really little(mainly Katy Perry) and "nerdcore" music when I got slightly older. I do remember being obssesed with Skillet in 4th grade funnily enough, I guess it was foreshadowing for me getting into alt music in highschool. Most of the time when people talked about emos online it was always in a negative way, so I kinda internalised this idea that I can't be emo cause emo is weird or something. This made me not want to listen to MCR, I knew NOTHING about them outside of the name and "emo" association. I just assumed that they sounded like "Bring me to life" by Evanesence and moved on with my life.
Eventually, near the end of my elementary school, I got "Teenagers" reccomended to me on spotify. I remebered seeing someone oline mentioning listening to the song, so I thought to myself that I could give it a listen. I liked it, but it didn't blew me away or anything. Sometime later I decided to listen to another Black Parade song, gave "Dead!" a shot and it completely changed my life. I didn't know that "emo" music could be so awesome and energetic, I loved the song so much and would listen to it over and over again. I got into the rest of their discography slowly and one by one, but during that process I was still scared of being made fun of for listening to them, so I would hide it as much as I can.
